This popularity has been fueled by the various benefits that have come to be associated with this type of tires as compared to all-season tires. Beauty is one of the factors fueling the craze with these tires which explain why they have mostly found favor with sport cars fans who are known for their obsession with image. It can also be demonstrated by the fact that majority of people purchasing these high performance tires are more concerned with the looks.

The most notably advantage of high performance tires is the fact that they reduce heat build-up far much better than the ordinary tires. What makes this advantage that important is because heat build-up in tires is the worst nightmares tor drivers when it comes to tires. High performance tires are also known to improve not only traction but also handling as well. This can be explained by the fact that their better treads grip the ground far much better than those of the all-season tires. This therefore improves braking distances and also general handling of the car thereby improving the safety of the driver. This is no doubt the reason why high performance tires are mostly found in both sport cars and sport sedans which are generally known for high speed.

On the flip side high performance tires are comparably more expensive than ordinary tires. Their tread though bigger and better when it comes to sport cars and other high speed cars are known not to last longer as compared to ordinary tires. This is because their ability to grip the road better exposes them to increased wear which also adds on to their costs. The large treads in the high performance tires gives the driver a slower steering response, not to mention the lower cornering limits due to the less sidewall flex, especially when compared to ordinary tires.

To find the most affordable and suitable tire, the most important thing that you need to consider is what kind of car tire you will need to buy. Because tires might be either wintertime, summertime or all-season kinds. They range because of the design of the thread on the surface of the tire, and also the chemical type elements of the rubber and some other inner characteristics. You shouldn’t commute using winter car tires during the summer time and vice versa. Winter auto tires are made for temperatures listed below 9C, and if outdoors temperature is higher than that, they’ll likely become very soft like a clay, and get destroyed a lot quicker. And when using summer tires in winter, they can harden quickly and end up feeling almost like a plastic material and cause your car to become extremely hard to handle on the snowy roads. All-season tires are a compromise among the other two types and therefore are usually put into use where local weather is moderate. To select the best tire for your vehicle in the Las Vegas area take a look at the places below (also note what yelp.com users said about each place):

Llantera Tropicana

1250 E Tropicana Ave
Las Vegas, NV 89119
Neighborhood: University
(702) 895-7979

Marie M: Not bad for a last minute repair. Like a street walkin’ hooker it’s cheap, fast and open 24 hours and less than $15 if you are desperate for a tire replacement. In a central location of Vegas ( near airport, strip, UNLV) I can see why they have been in business for so long. This is a good place for the out-of-towners that take the long drive to Vegas. Bring cash because they do not accept ATM. Ladies, keep your stunna shades on and do not make eye contact with the pervs that loiter around.

One last tip, please don’t sit on the grubby chairs.

Bruce Scher’s Goodyear

Meadows Mall
4150 Meadows Ln
Las Vegas, NV 89107
Neighborhood: Westside
(702) 870-8901

Christopher G: Procedurally honest service for the most part. With the exception of one time three years ago when a wheel alignment was done on my car and the tire pressure on all four wheels were at least ten to twelve pounds low (exactly as the car was delivered to them), I’ve had good experiences with them.

I take my car to this Goodyear store about once a year to have a wheel alignment done, as I had purchased tires from them several years back and bought a lifetime warranty on the alignment (which means any time I want another alignment, it is free of charge). They service the car with competency (with that one exception) and are pretty good about doing it quickly.

Customer service is VERY STRONG. They document EVERYTHING, which the customer signs off on before any work begins. The staff are polite and caring, especially on the telephone. (Today, someone called on his/her cell phone when I was picking up my vehicle: they were driving on a highway they didn’t know which one it was, didn’t know which side of town they were on, and wanted directions…and the Bruce Sher employee was the epitome of professionalism and help…even ending the conversation with “I’m sorry, but we don’t perform warranty maintanance on Volkswagons”. LOL. Stoopit Peeps, and the employee was a TOTAL professional.)

In an industry devoid of trust, this is one business that has earned mine (with that one exception).

Details ad nauseum: oil change, brake inspection/repairs, tire sales and service (especially for those pesky flat tires that are far too regular for my liking here in Las Vegas). Moderately competitive prices on scheduled maintenance. I drive an American-made car…which helps I guess.

Ted Wiens Tire & Auto Centers

9445 S Eastern Avenue
Las Vegas, NV 89123
Neighborhood: Southeast
(702) 938-8473

Shellby M: I only bought one tire from this place because I thought a competitor would be cheaper but turns out it wasn’t. After going to the competitor (you can see the review I posted) I would def go back to Ted Wiens because they are fast and friendly and make your tires shiny before you leave.

Discount Tire

9061 W Flamingo Rd
Las Vegas, NV 89147
Neighborhood: Spring Valley
(702) 233-6999

AJ J : Needed new tires for the wife’s Camry. These guys here are clean professional and caring. I was in an out in 45 minutes with new tires that made the ride smoother and safer.

I have used discount tire since I have been in Vegas (20+ years ago) one day I had a flat and hobbled the car into their center where they immediately fixed the flat and said “No Charge, just come back when you need tires” Since then they earned a customer for life.

Thanks Guys!

Tire Works Total Car Care

7735 W Sahara Ave
Las Vegas, NV 89117
Neighborhood: Westside
(702) 437-9100

Kailee R.: Very friendly staff, particularly Jack, the manager, and Joe, who was the gentleman who helped me out when I visited.

My back shocks needed to be replaced, alignment done, and all four tires replaced. I am not from Vegas so I pretty much picked this location out of a phone book. When I called to get an estimate and began talking with Joe, I let him know I was wary of car replaces places, that I had had bad experiences before and that I wanted honest service. Some might think that is a naive thing to do but he was very understanding, detailed the guarantee (parts and labor for a year, parts only for a lifetime), and said they would take care of me. They did.

The only thing I didn’t like is that Jack kept calling me “hon”, probably something he does to all women but which I find irritating and unprofessional.
